Choral Conducting


KIT JOHNSON has had a long and rewarding career as a choral conductor. Though spending most of his time at the college level he also spent five years each at the elementary/middle school and high-school levels.. While chairing the department of music at Sheridan college, Kit was a guest conductor for state and district music festivals.

Kit was the director of music at All Souls, a large Unitarian congregataion in New London CT where he directed a 4-part choir of 35 members and the auditioned Camerata in addition to accompanying many services, weddings, and memorial services. Additionally Dr. Johnson led district-wide and national conference workshops for other choir directors and was the guest conductor at a trans-Canada UUMN conference. Kit was the director of a professional summer-stock musical theater company and he has directed, among others, the following choral organizations:

Though semi-retired and now living in Amherst Massachusetts, Kit hopes to continue directing musicals, and working as a consultant with area choral groups in a variety of styles.
